Abstract: Galectins are lectins which posscess carbohydrate recognition domains that bind �-galactosides. Secreted alkaline phosphatase (SEAP) is a secreted form of alkaline phosphatase, commonly used as surrogate marker for tumor burden measurement. When expressing SEAP, galectin-3 is down-regulated in ovarian carcinoma cell line ovcar3.
