Abstract: In achaischer Schrift, wahrscheinlich von Sybaris, bezeugt eine Bronzeplatte aus Olympia, dass ein Alkisthenes Proxenos der Eleer wurde, wobei ein (Eleer) Xennias Burgschaft leistete. Diese Inschrift, 550–510 v.Chr. entstanden, ist damit das zweitalteste Beispiel einer der zahlreichen griechischen Proxenieurkunden. Da ein Proxenos der Eleer auch in Sparta und in Athen uberliefert ist, scheint es ein Merkmal elischer Politik zu sein, sich vor allem unter angesehenen Burgern von Grosmachten erfolgreich Interessensvertreter zu verschaffen.
