Abstract: Middle East respiratory syndrome, or MERS, is a febrile respiratory disease caused by a new type of coronavirus discovered in September 2012 [1]. On May 23, 2013, the World Health Organization (WHO) named this new type of coronavirus as the Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV), and named the infection caused by MERS-CoV as MERS [2, 3].
