Abstract: In the chapter, I reflect on fieldwork in and on violence in Latin America as a feminist. I argue that researchers are not immune to silence and omission, which are often imposed by disciplinary boundaries and positivist logics. These determine what we can and cannot talk about or indeed what is considered ‘acceptable’ to the rigours of a research culture.
