Abstract:
MgBe4Cu is Hexagonal Laves-derived structured and crystallizes in the cubic F-43m space group. The structure is three-dimensional. Mg is bonded in a 4-coordinate geometry to twelve equivalent Be and four equivalent Cu atoms. All Mg–Be bond lengths are 2.59 Å. All Mg–Cu bond lengths are 2.71 Å. Be is bonded to three equivalent Mg, six equivalent Be, and three equivalent Cu atoms to form a mixture of edge, face, and corner-sharing BeMg3Be6Cu3 cuboctahedra. There are three shorter (2.18 Å) and three longer (2.23 Å) Be–Be bond lengths. Al (...)
