Abstract: I was on my surgical rotation in March 2020 when I decided to visit my parents for my mother's birthday. During my visit, my medical school joined many across the tristate area to suspend all clinical rotations because of the burgeoning COVID-19 outbreak. I reverted to online classes and sheltered in place at my parents' home in the Bronx. As a first-time mother to a four-month-old baby girl, the outbreak terrified me.
