Abstract: This study investigated the possibility of a day‐of‐testing effect occurring when auditory evoked potentials (AEPs) are recorded from young infants (5 to 6 months old). Experimental group infants were brought into the laboratory on Day 1 and AEPs were recorded to tone pips. This procedure was then repeated on the following day. Infants in the control group received the entire experimental procedure on Day 1 but heard no tones. On Day 2, control infants received the tone pips and AEPs were recorded.
