Abstract: The weak peaks in the electronic spectra (reflectance, absorption, luminescence) of one-dimensional (1-D) semiconductors with a metal–halide chain are described. It is found that the positions and intensities of the peaks depend on the method of observation (reflectance, absorption, etc.) and on the size or the shape of the crystalline particles. Peaks inside the gap frequency are attributed to excition or impurity localized states and peaks near the plasma frequency are attributed to indirect excitation of plasmons.
