Abstract: Abstract Traditional marketplaces are common in old city centers. Such places have a distinctive ambiance populated by local vendors, shoppers, visiting tourists, and pedestrians on their way to somewhere else. This genius loci or ‘collective spirit of place’ contributes to their character as destinations for people to visit and linger.
