Abstract: Abstract The purpose of this paper is examination of potential use of ultra-high frequency (UHF) energy installations for frozen soil defrosting. The paper analyzes the thermodynamic response of the frozen soil to the action of an electromagnetic field (EMF). The analysis presented illustrates the effect of UHF energy on the strength of frozen soil. It is concluded that the UHF device reduces the defrosting time requirement.
